2005
- I got to go to
Oahu and Maui (Hawaii) for a conference on Microscopy and
Microanalysis. While I enjoyed the conference I enjoyed sightseeing
and windsurfing even more ... :-)
- We were The Incredibles for
Halloween
2004
2003
- Michael tried his
Sauerbraten recipe.
- Who says that you can't go
windsurfing when it is below zero and the water freezes on your
sail, you have ice in your gloves and have to warm up the mast over
a car exhaust to get it apart?!
- We got hit by a
blizzard and measured about 40 cm of snow at Stony Brook.
- The annual
strawberry festival with lot's of strawberries and even more
candy.
- One of those
sunsets at West Meadow Beach or was it more 'trying out the
camera'? Well, I like the pictures ...
- Chris and Alexis got married in Indianapolis (Indina). Enjoy
pictures of their
wedding.
-
Live concert.
- The
Eight International Conference on Synchrotron Radiation (SRI)
was held in San Francisco at the end of August together with a
workshop on coherence in Berkeley. We used that opportunity
to take a hike at Point Reyes National Seashore.
- The day I got back from the conference, we went to the
2003 US Open.
- Artist Meghan Sumner and her latest art-work:
Dresser. Meghan is a local artist who has become famous
with her sheep, watermelon and bumblebee motifs that can
be viewed on various office and home windows,
mirrors and everything that looks like 'i just wanted to try
out my new markers'!
-
Abitreff 2003 - Irish pub Homberg
2002
- Skiing in
Colorado.
We did Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail and Copper Mountain.
-
4th July fireworks at Jones Beach.
- My new passion:
Windsurfing
- Hey, we weren't that bad, but we defenitely need to practise
Softball.
Michael defended his PhD and had a really nice
Party at his house. Too bad that he was exhausted and wanted
to go to bed way before we were willing to leave ...
- Meghan presented a poster at a conference in Toronto, so I
took the oppertunity to visit
Toronto.
- On the way back from Toronto, we stopped at
Niagara Falls and I was finally able to see the falls
from the Canadian side, which is supposed to be better than
the American side. Well, I have to admit that it is a little
nicer!
-
Magally and Norberto's Wedding
- Meghan, Anke and I enjoyed the
New York Philharmonics at Central Park
- The 7th
International Conference on X-ray Microscopy
was held in Grenoble, France from July 28 through August 3rd.
- Spooky and funny costumes - that was
Halloween
2002 at 76 Mt. Grey Road.
- We rented a cabin in the
Adirondacks and had a great weekend hiking and drinking
Feuerzangenbowle.
- Meghan defended her
PhD
thesis.
- The same procedure as every year: drive to the city, walk down 5th avenue,
look at the tree at Rockefeller center, look at the ice skating, decide to
go ice skating and immediately change our minds after seeing the line
to get down on the ice. Oh well, i forgot ... we take
pictures.
- Boarderweek in
Val
Thorens, France.
