The motors have home switches (ZOSA and ZSTG use limit switches; see Table 10.2). In general you should not touch them unless you are absolutely certain of what you are doing. The locations of the home positions are shown in Table 10.2. If you do Home the motors, wait for the operation to be completed (motor stops moving and Home light goes off) and then hit Reset to zero the position.

The factory default is for the Home button on the control panel to take you to zero steps; that is, where the motors were located when the MM-3000 was turned on. The gpib_mot.init() code includes an nOM1 command which changes the Home button action to one of going to the home switch positions, and once you're there you should press the Reset position to zero the position of the motor. The MM-3000 command to go to the home switch position irrespective of any nOM1 commands is nOR1, where n is the axis number.

You can set the home position to be at either end of the travel range or in the middle (see the little holes marked ``ZM''), but please don't adjust it or you may have microscope components banging into each other!

The outboard YSTG motor has a broken home switch. We home this motor by bringing it to the middle position between the travel limits and then resetting the position.
