Signal connections to the NI PCI-6052E board
The NI PCI-6052E board has a counter-timer that is used to record an
internal time base and x-ray counts from the proportional counter
detector, and sixteen analog inputs which are used to record signals
from the segmented silicon detector.
As noted in Sec. 8.1, the NI PCI-6052E receives
its STARTSCAN input from the output of Multiplexer 2. The programmable
internal time base is internally routed to General Purpose Counter
input GPC0, and the proportional counter pulses are wired to input
GPC1. A total of 14 analog inputs are routed from a DB25 input
connector to NI PCI-6052E analog inputs in the scheme described in
Table 8.4, and two further analog inputs
are routed from BNC connectors to the last two analog inputs of the NI
PCI-6052E. Notes on how to specify what analog inputs are associated
with what signal are in Sec. 13.1.1.
Table 8.4:
Pin assignments
for the DB25 connector from the segmented silicon detector,
and the analog inputs of the NI PCI-6502E multifunction board.
Note that the ordering of analog inputs on the PCI-6502E does
not have to follow the above table if an alternative wiring
scheme is easier to lay out on the printed circuit board.
The selection and ordering of analog inputs can be
rearranged by software to compensate for some other ordering,
as described in Sec. 13.1.1.
