Opening and Saving Data Files

See Sec. 11.4 and 8.4 for details about file access locally and on the server.

Open Local Data File
to open a data file on the local file system (the hard drive, a CD or DVD, or a network-mounted drive). About open STXM 4 data files, see Sec. 5.18. About opening data files from the Advanced Photon Source, see Sec. 5.19.

Open Data File On Server
(disabled in display_only mode) will open a STXM 5 data file directly on the server, over the STXM 5 network protocol. You have only access to the microscope control computer's data directory, not its whole file system.

Save As$\ldots$
will save the data file on the local file system with the current display, Min, Max and Gamma values. If you edited the Sample, Scientist and Comments entries in the Scan Parameters popup (see Fig. 5.9), they will also be saved. The same is valid for editions in the pointlist window (see Sec. 5.14.6). This option is not available for STXM 4 or APS data files.

Save File on Server
(only available if the current file was opened from the server, which includes the last scan) will save a data file back on the server. Again, only Sample / Scientist / Comments, the display parameters and the pointlist entries can be overwritten.
