In this area, you can see the current energy setting of the spherical grating monochromator (SGM). by clicking "Update Energy", you can ask for the current setting in case it has been changed outside SM_GUI and the program hasn't been notified about this.

You can change the energy by clicking the appropriate button. A window will pop up (see Fig. 5.5) in which you can enter the desired value. You have two choices:

Move SGM only
In this case, only the monochromator will be moved. If the sample was in focus before, it will be out of focus afterwards. If the sample was not in focus anyway, you can choose this setting.

Move SGM, Specimen, OSA
In this case, the specimen and OSA Z positions will be tracked to keep the specimen in focus.
