Moving the Sample and other Scan Devices

All the scan devices described in Sec. 1.3 can be moved around in the microscope. There are two ways to do this:

  1. If you want to move a device which has been scanned on the fast or slow axis of the currently displayed scan, you can just click into the image and then click Move Scan Devices to Mouse. Note that this will move both scan devices.

To keep track of where you clicked before, you can turn on a crosshair by Extra $\rightarrow$ Display Crosshair on Mouseclick Position.

  2. Otherwise, you can move the scan devices by opening the appropriate popup window from the Move menu. One exception is the monochromator, which is controlled from the Beamline Control section on the right side of the SM_GUI window (see Sec. 2.9).

Note that most of the time, you only want to move the sample like this while you are watching it through the visible-light microscope. Otherwise, better know what you are doing!
