This chapter describes what kind of information is stored in STXM 5 data files, and how it is stored. This is closely related to how our hardware works. Some information in this chapter will be interesting only for power users, but others (certain parameters from the sm_par structure) should be interesting for everybody.
If you really want to understand STXM 5 data files, you'll also have to understand the display concept as described in Chap. 9.
