- Hold down alt-control-F2
on the keyboard. The display should switch to terminal mode and
you should see a login prompt.
- Log into the computer as root. If you do not know the
password, you will have to call one of the people of the group
to be told the password.
- After logging in, enter at the commandline:
/sbin/shutdown -r now
This will start the reboot sequence.
- After the computer has rebooted, you should see again the
graphical log in screen. Log in as micros and start working
again. You still might have to restart the x1a_mot_server
(see Sec. 6.11) for the scanning program to work properly.
Refer to Sec. 2.3 on how to restore the visible
light microscope display.
If you see a message like
/dev/sda7 has reached maximal mount count
during bootup with a long delay, don't worry. Linux likes to
re-evaluate the disk structure every
number of mounts to make
sure there aren't any disk errors. You don't need to worry about
this; it just takes extra time on startup.
