If you followed the steps above and everything looked good (e.g., the dark current histograms and the noise frequency plots), you can write the detector calibration parameters to a file and copy it over to the appropriate location for the microscope control software (i.e., /mnt/x1a/ on the machine x1a.
From now on, as long as the detector body and chip aren't changed, only the dark current correction has to be done regularly (a few times per hour). This is most easily accomplished by clicking the "Calibrate Now" button in SM_GUI or by issuing the command calibrate_sidet in sm_script. Of course, it can just as well be done as described here (say, to compare the manual calibration with the automatic one in the microscope control software).
