When leaving the beamline

These are things we should to when leaving the experiment unattended:
  1. Close valve V9i but NOT V10i or V11i. [Actually, I wouldn't close any valves at all, but some people sleep better that way.] The volume between V11i and the exit window should not be isolated because it cannot easily be pumped and the pressure tends to rise in there. The beamline interlock will close V9i, V10i and V11i if the cryo chamber pressure goes above 3 mtorr.
  2. Switch off power to detector.
  3. At a not too large entrance slit (heat load!) you may want to move the photodiode that's right upstream of the grating into the beam, to protect the grating. Do not close any valve upstream of the grating since it will close the shutter (which cuts off beam to the outboard branch and X1B)!
  4. If the turbo pump is running, check whether it is in ``protect'' mode.
  5. Log out the computer or lock the screen (password protected).
  6. If leaving for a longer period, switch off power to the electronics.
