Handling images

The File menu in the sm_cryo GUI lets you read, write and print .sm files:
  1. To read / display an image, go to File $\longrightarrow$ Open image and choose a file name.
  2. To save an image, go to File $\longrightarrow$ Save image and choose a file name.
  3. To print an image, go to File $\longrightarrow$ Print image and choose a printer.

When displaying an image, it is recommended to choose Display $\longrightarrow$ Divide by clock as this is not set as the default. The Zoom option lets you choose between zooms from 1 to 8.

Note: To look at an image while the microscope is otherwise working (i.e. the computer is talking to motors) you can open another GUI window in ``log only'' mode: at the shell prompt, type sm_cryo -logonly &. This is useful especially during acquisition of a stack!

See the chapter on spectroscopy for how to deal with spectrum files.
